SC/APC Fiber Optic Loopback for Singlemode Port Testing

The SC/APC Fiber Optic Loopback is a compact duplex module that directs an optical transmit signal back toward the connected equipment’s receive port. Its two green SC/APC connectors are enclosed together in a black injection-molded plastic housing, providing a short, protected return path for compatible singlemode optical test interfaces.

The module is intended for checking optical-port response, assisting transceiver diagnostics and isolating potential equipment-side faults. Technicians can use a loopback when a device has matching transmit and receive interfaces and its operating procedure supports this type of test. It is not a calibrated power meter or a substitute for end-to-end fiber-link qualification.

Choose this SC/APC Fiber Optic Loopback for singlemode equipment with APC-polished SC mating ports. The angled APC end faces must not be mated directly with flat-polished SC/UPC interfaces. Matching the connector family, polish and fiber mode helps avoid physical mismatch and unreliable test results.

The enclosed two-connector design forms one transmit-to-receive assembly rather than two independent patch cords. How a Duplex Fiber Optic Loopback Works

A duplex loopback creates a passive return route from an optical transmitter to a receiver in the same device or test setup. It can help confirm whether a port responds as expected, subject to the supported transceiver and diagnostic procedure. A successful local loopback does not confirm the optical loss or performance of a separate deployed link.

Choosing a Compatible Fiber Loopback

First match the connector type (for example, SC or LC) to the equipment’s physical ports. Then match the connector polish (UPC or APC) and fiber mode (singlemode or multimode). UPC and APC cannot be directly mated. An MPO loopback uses a different multifiber interface and is not interchangeable with a duplex SC module.
