12 Fiber SC APC Pigtail for Single-Mode Fiber Splicing

The 12 Fiber SC APC Pigtail is a 1-meter, 12-fiber assembly with SC/APC connectors pre-terminated on color-coded 0.9 mm branches. It uses G.652.D single-mode fiber, with the opposite ends left unterminated for fusion splicing into a distribution or termination enclosure.

Each green SC/APC connector uses an angled-contact interface and must be paired with compatible SC/APC equipment. SC/APC and SC/UPC polishing styles should not be directly mated. The SC push-pull housing is larger than an LC connector, making connector type an important part of enclosure and adapter selection.

The individual colored branches allow installers to identify, route and splice the 12 fibers separately. In optical distribution frames (ODFs), FTTH termination boxes and other fiber-management enclosures, the pre-terminated ends connect to matching SC/APC ports while the free ends are spliced to the incoming cable fibers. Protect completed splices and follow the enclosure’s bend-management requirements.

Illustration of fiber optic pigtail structure and splicing in a fiber termination system

A fiber optic pigtail has a connector at one end and an unterminated fiber end for joining to a cable by splicing. Multi-fiber pigtail bundles allow individual fibers to be identified, routed into splice trays and connected to the correct distribution ports. Protect each completed splice and manage fiber routing according to the enclosure and cable requirements.

Fiber optic pigtails used in FTTH and optical fiber distribution network applications

Fiber optic pigtails are used in FTTH distribution boxes, optical distribution frames and telecom termination enclosures. Selection depends on fiber mode, connector type, polish, fiber count and available splice-tray space. Match the connector and polish to the intended adapter and the fiber characteristics to the network design before installation.

Perguntas Frequentes

Can I plug this SC/APC pigtail into an SC/UPC adapter or port?

Use an SC/APC-compatible adapter and matching APC end-face connection. SC/APC and SC/UPC connectors have different polishing styles and should not be directly mated.

How are the 12 unterminated fiber ends connected during installation?

Prepare each free end and fusion-splice it to the corresponding cable fiber, then protect the splice and route it inside a suitable splice tray. Follow the fiber assignment plan and enclosure requirements.

Why does this pigtail use 12 different colored fiber branches?

Color coding helps technicians distinguish individual fibers when routing, splicing and troubleshooting. Match each branch to the fiber sequence specified for the installation.
