SC/UPC to SC/APC OS2 Single-Mode Simplex Fiber Patch Cord with 2.0mm LSZH Jacket

The SC/UPC to SC/APC OS2 single-mode simplex fiber patch cord connects a compatible SC/UPC port to an SC/APC port. Both ends use an SC connector, but they have different polishing types: ultra physical contact (UPC) at one end and angled physical contact (APC) at the other. This assembly is intended for links that require that specific mixed-polish pairing; SC/UPC and SC/APC ends should not be mated to the wrong port type.

The cable uses OS2 9/125μm single-mode fiber in a one-fiber (simplex) construction, with a 2.0mm low-smoke zero-halogen (LSZH) jacket and a listed insertion-loss specification of ≤0.3 dB. When should I choose an SC/UPC to SC/APC patch cord instead of SC/UPC to SC/UPC?

Choose this cable when one endpoint in the fiber link requires SC/UPC and the other requires SC/APC. If both endpoints use SC/UPC, an SC/UPC-to-SC/UPC patch cord is the more appropriate configuration. Although both ends of this product use the SC connector format, UPC and APC have different end-face polish types, so the required polish at both endpoints should be confirmed before ordering.

Does this SC/UPC to SC/APC patch cord have a fixed installation direction?

The fiber cord itself does not have a fixed A-to-B transmission direction. It can be routed either way, but the connector polish still has to match the corresponding endpoint: the SC/UPC connector should be used on the UPC side of the link and the SC/APC connector on the APC side. The two polish types should not be treated as interchangeable just because both connectors are SC.
