12 Fiber SC UPC Pigtail for G.652.D Single-Mode Splicing

The 12 Fiber SC UPC Pigtail is a color-coded single-mode fiber assembly for splicing and termination in optical distribution equipment. This 1 m configuration uses G.652.D fiber, with twelve 0.9 mm branches individually terminated in blue SC/UPC connectors. The opposite ends remain unterminated for joining to the corresponding fibers of an incoming cable.

The SC/UPC connector ends fit matching SC/UPC mating interfaces in a fiber distribution frame or termination box. Connector type and polish both matter: SC and LC connector bodies are different, and SC/UPC ends should not be directly mated with angled-polish SC/APC connectors. Choose the adapter interfaces before routing and splicing the fibers.

During installation, identify each branch by its color, prepare the free end, and fusion-splice it to the assigned cable fiber. Place the protected splices inside an appropriate tray and route the finished connections without excessive bending or tension. This product has connectors at one end only; it is not a patch cord terminated at both ends.

These illustrations show the connector-to-splice arrangement and a typical ODF installation context. The exact adapter layout, splice-tray capacity, and cable-routing method depend on the enclosure. For acceptance-critical links, verify optical performance against the specification or test record for the supplied batch.

Illustration of fiber optic pigtail structure and splicing in a fiber termination system

A fiber optic pigtail has a connector at one end and an unterminated fiber end for joining to a cable by splicing. Multi-fiber pigtail bundles allow individual fibers to be identified, routed into splice trays and connected to the correct distribution ports. Protect each completed splice and manage fiber routing according to the enclosure and cable requirements.

Fiber optic pigtails used in FTTH and optical fiber distribution network applications

Fiber optic pigtails are used in FTTH distribution boxes, optical distribution frames and telecom termination enclosures. Selection depends on fiber mode, connector type, polish, fiber count and available splice-tray space. Match the connector and polish to the intended adapter and the fiber characteristics to the network design before installation.

よくあるご質問

Can I connect this SC/UPC pigtail to an SC/APC or LC port?

Use SC/UPC-compatible adapters or ports. SC/APC has a different end-face polish, while LC is a different connector format. Do not directly mate incompatible connector types or UPC and APC polish styles.

How are the unterminated fiber ends installed?

Each open fiber end is prepared and fusion-spliced to its assigned cable fiber. Protect the completed splices and route them inside an enclosure or tray designed for fiber management.

How should the 12 color-coded fibers be matched during splicing?

Follow the fiber identification plan for the installation and map each pigtail color to the corresponding cable fiber. Do not assume the color sequence replaces the project splice schedule.

Does this product work as a patch cord with connectors on both ends?

No. A pigtail has pre-terminated SC/UPC connectors on one end and free fiber ends on the other. A patch cord normally has connectors at both ends.

What should I check before installing it in an ODF or termination box?

Check for matching SC/UPC adapter ports, sufficient space for 12 branches and splice protection, and a suitable fiber-routing path. Also confirm the optical performance requirements for the network.
