PLC Splitter 1×8 with SC/APC Connectors for FTTH Distribution

The PLC Splitter 1×8 is a compact, passive optical distribution component built around a mini steel-tube module. One fiber input is divided into eight output paths, allowing a shared optical feeder to serve multiple downstream connections in fiber-to-the-home access networks. This version is supplied with green SC/APC connector ends and a listed 1m lead length.

The slim metal housing is suited to placement in a compatible optical distribution box, splice enclosure, or fiber management tray where space is limited. Pre-connectorized ends simplify connection to matching SC/APC interfaces, while the 1-to-8 configuration makes the unit suitable for passive optical network distribution points. The metal housing is a compact package format, not a weatherproof enclosure by itself.

Before ordering, match the connector polish, available installation space, planned cable routing, and optical power budget to the network design. SC/APC and SC/UPC should not be treated as interchangeable mating interfaces. Where a project specifies maximum insertion loss, return loss, or operating wavelength, request the confirmed values for the supplied batch rather than relying on generic splitter specifications.

A PLC Splitter 1×8 works without electrical power and is generally used where one optical path must be distributed to eight branches. For purchasing accuracy, note that this listing is for the specified SC/APC, 1m mini steel-tube configuration, not an ABS box, rack module, or bare-fiber alternative.

How PLC Fiber Splitters Work

Planar lightwave circuit splitters use integrated optical waveguides to distribute light from an input fiber into multiple paths. Unlike powered switching devices, they require no external electricity. The correct split ratio and optical budget depend on the access-network design.

PLC Splitters in FTTH Networks

In fiber-to-the-home networks, splitters allow an optical distribution point to fan out service toward multiple subscriber connections. Placement is determined by the network topology, available fiber management space, and the loss budget.

Planning Passive Fiber Connectivity

Select PLC splitters by output count, connector interface, pigtail length, and installation format. Matching connector polish and allowing enough routing space helps prevent unnecessary connection issues. For acceptance-critical optical performance, use verified measurements for the actual supplied unit.
