LC/UPC Fiber Optic Attenuator for 5dB Singlemode Power Reduction

This LC/UPC Fiber Optic Attenuator provides a fixed nominal 5 dB reduction in optical signal power. Its male-to-female LC/UPC configuration fits a compatible singlemode connection where received optical power needs to be reduced without changing the connector interface.

Designed as a compact plug-in attenuator, it can be positioned between a compatible LC/UPC connector and an LC/UPC adapter in a distribution panel, cabinet, or test setup. The blue housing has a visible 5dB marking for identification. Match both connector polish and the required attenuation to the link before installation.

The supplier lists 1310 nm and 1550 nm as singlemode reference wavelengths, return loss of at least 50 dB, and a 500-cycle mating specification. Select this fixed value only after checking the optical power budget; 5 dB is not a universal setting for every fiber link.

A fixed fiber optic attenuator reduces optical signal power by a specified amount. It is used when a receiver would otherwise see excessive optical power, or when a test or distribution link calls for controlled attenuation. Select the attenuation value from the actual optical link budget rather than connector color alone.

Fixed attenuators are available in different connector families, polish types and nominal dB values. Choose a model that matches the fiber mode, connector interface, and endface polish of the intended connection. The illustration uses a 5 dB LC-style unit as an example; other interface and attenuation options require their own matching product specifications.
